6th Graders
Sixth grade science teacher Mrs. Samson asks her class: "Who can tell me which organ of the human body expands to 10 times its usual size when stimulated?"
Nobody raises a hand, so she calls on the first student to look her way. "Mary, can you tell me which organ of the human body expands to 10 times its usual size when stimulated?"
Mary stands up, blushing furiously. "How dare you ask such a question?" she says. "I'm going to complain to my parents, who will complain to the principal, who will have you fired!"
Mrs. Sampson is shocked by Mary's reaction, but undaunted. She asks the class the question again, and this time Sam raises his hand.
Yes, Sam?" says Mrs. Sampson. "Ma'am, the correct answer is the iris of the human eye."
"Very good, Sam. Thank you." Mrs. Sampson then turns to Mary and says, "Mary, I have 3 things to tell you: first, it's clear that you have NOT done your homework. Second, you have a DIRTY mind. And third, I fear one day you are going to be sadly disappointed."

Xianz - The Christian MySpace
This is a "new" alternative to Myspace called Xianz. Please don't ask me how to pronounce it.
I just was able to join as you have to have an invite. I am not sure what I think of it at this point. It doesn't catch the eye like MySpace can. But, it may evolve into something really great. You never know. I am not using it to attract guys (obviously, I am happily married!) but it seems a good way to meet Christian friends.
So...here it is....a "semi official" invite! Click on it to go to their website!

Chiropractic Hoorah!
Today was another regularly scheduled Chiropractors appointment. Yep. Can't seem to give it up. :o)
He asked me, as usual, where I was hurting. Typically, it's the middle of my back, or my neck. It was.
I laid on my tummy and he started using the massager tool on those two areas.
Suddenly, I was completely hurting in my lower back. I mean, it almost made me unable to breathe deep.
The odd thing, to me, was he hadn't even touched that area. It was like my lower back was jealous of all the attention!
After he was done with my neck he moved on to the painful area.
I nearly cried.
Even after he had "popped it all back into place" it still hurt and I told him so.
He then said that he knew my insurance didn't cover the other table but that he thought I needed it.
It was an amazing machine. You lay on your back and it runs along down your back massaging it.
I could've stayed on it forever! But, the treatment is only for 9 minutes.
I was thinking "How much is this going to cost?" and then "It's way worth it!" :o)
The receptionist came into the room and said, "You're very lucky. The doctor isn't going to bill you for this treatment."
Wow.
What a good day.
All that and it was a half day of work too!

Stories...
Tonight we watched the movie "Dreamer". What a wonderful, family movie! It is inspired by a true story. It's about a girl, her father, and their horse. Of course, I cannot spill the beans on the exact storyline cause you need to go out and rent it. :o)
It has Dakota Fanning and Kurt Russell, so you know it's good!
Yesterday was an extremely frustrating day. It started out good and stayed that way until the afternoon run. Don't work with your good friends. Don't get stuck on a bus with them for 7.5 hours Monday through Friday.
She is known as Crazy Betty. She is fun loving and optimistic. She has a naive childishness about her. She also can be very stubborn. She can take out her frustrations in ways less seen.
I know her as not many people do. They see the "WOOHOO tada!" that is Crazy Betty. She's like a super-hero. I see the flesh and blood 65 year old woman.
The kids were, shall we say, hyper? Yeah, we'll go with that. Eventually the "most hyper" of the bunch were dropped off at home. That left 3 kids. They are all between 9-12 years old. The reason they are on our bus is because of behavioral issues. They are in special classes to help them deal with things. One of our kids, I will call him "AJ", has a lot of issues. He's a good kid but he doesn't show it a lot.
When we stopped at a students house, he unbuckled his seatbelt, got another students backpack, and returned it to them from the floor.
Frickin' Amazing!! I didn't ask him to do it. I was so pleased!!
They are finally starting to listen and learn. WOW!
Then, the shoe dropped.
"You didn't ask to unbuckle." Betty said.
Now, while it's true that we have neccessary rules, this was not the time for her to broach this subject. I felt it undermined the good thing he did.
So, I said, "He was getting J.'s backpack." in his defense.
She replied, "He didn't ask to get up, and he unbuckled before the bus stopped."
"No, he unbuckled after the bus stopped." I answered.
Now, I know we are supposed to be a team & present a united front to the kids, just like good parents. But, I was frustrated with her attitude.
She continued on saying that she had seen him unbuckle before we stopped, yada yada yada...
Finally, I held up my hands in front of me and said, "Ok. Stop."
"You're. Telling. Me. To. Stop?" she asked incredulously.
"Yes. I don't want to argue anymore." I responded.
"You're not arguing. I am."
"Well then, please stop."
"I'll stop when I want to stop."
Silence.
Is it only me who thinks she sounded like one of the kids?
I was so mad that I cam *this* close to making her stop the bus and let me off. I think if she weren't our landlord too I would have.
I didn't talk to her the rest of the way back to base. I cannot imagine seeing her Monday, nor do I wish to. If I could, I would NEVER go back.
Yes. I am that mad.

It was an awesome day! Mom and I made it to the Phoenix airport in about 15 minutes thanks to Tom. We live pretty close.
We ended up being delayed though because it was raining. Yep - on my birthday it rained for the first time since October 18th. So, all the planes landings were delayed.
When we finally got in the plane and ready to go, we were told we were #20 on the take off list. #20!!!
Our original flight time was 2:25 pm, and we didn't leave until 3:10 or so.
It took a little over an hour to get to John Wayne Airport. Thankfully it is not as nuts as LAX. That was a huge bonus!! We had no problem getting our luggage or the rental car.
The car we got is a Burnt Orange Chevy Colbalt. Really pretty. We looked at the directions we had printed at home on how to get from the airport to the hotel & then took off.
Well, we missed a step somewhere. We ended up taking the 405 freeway instead of the 5. Big difference. We had to turn around once but it went well. I'll tell ya - I was freakin' out. Yeah, I used to live in the area but I stunk at driving around there then.
I was so happy when we got to the hotel - I almost cried! :o) We checked into the hotel with no problems.
Then, mom and I went to their restaurant "Amber Waves". She treated me to a very yummy 30th Birthday dinner! We both had filet mignon. For an appetizer we had Spinach Artichoke dip (one of my favorites!) Oh. my. word! Every bite was wonderful and the server was so nice!
Thanks Mom!

Happy Birthday to meeee...
Although my birthday isn't until tomorrow, I was surprised to find my seat of the bus all decked out for my birthday! Betty came in early and put all these streamers up! She made this sign for me by hand, and basically went all nuts! :o) She's so crazy when it comes to someones birthday. She will stand on a table, drag out her pom-poms and shout-sing to you, "They say it's your birthday..."
I am not the kind of person who likes attention much, but with Betty I've had to...adjust.

Can you see just how many streamers she put up? And, she kept it all in one long piece so she could roll it up again!! Frugal. Hee hee, that's Betty. Isn't she over the top?

Like the hat she made for me out of balloons? I was praying it didn't pop. I don't like balloons popping too much.

This is what it looks like when she "comes at you" with her birthday garb. Although,I got an extra touch of crazy because she was all decked out for early St. Patrick's Day.
On my actual birthday (tomorrow, March 11th) I will be 30 years old. Wow. Stunning. My mom and I leave mid-afternoon to spend next week in California. She has never been to Disneyland, and so we must go! We will have a blast and I will share it all with you in about a week! :o)

5 Weird or Random Things About Me

1. When I get out of my car I feel the need to honk the alarm 2 or 3 times even though I *know* it's already locked. (slight case of OCD)
2. When I was little I loved learning about being blind or deaf and always wanted to learn braile & sign language
3. I was reading by the age of 4 (thanks mom!)
4. There are times I take a photo and think "my word, I am odd. no one takes a picture of something as odd as this!"
5. I became a Christian when I was 18. Before then, I didn't even really know what Easter was about. If I did, I didn't remember hearing it.
