Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Beset by nightmares, Harry Potter is all too happy to escape his disturbing dreams by attending the Quidditch World Cup. But something sinister ignites the skies at the Quidditch campsite--the Dark Mark, the sign of the evil Lord Voldemort. It's conjured by his followers, the Death Eaters, who haven't dared to appear in public since Voldemort was last seen thirteen years ago--the night he murdered Harry's parents. Harry longs to get back inside the safe walls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where Professor Dumbledore can protect him. But Dumbledore announces that Hogwarts will host the Triwizard Tournament, one of the most exciting and dangerous of the wizarding community's magical competitions. One champion will be selected from each of the three most prestigious wizarding schools to compete in a series of life-threatening tasks in pursuit of winning the coveted Triwizard Cup. Ministry of Magic official Barty Crouch and Professor Dumbledore preside over a candlelit ceremony as the enchanted Goblet of Fire selects one student from each school to compete. Amidst a hail of sparks and flames, the cup names Durmstrang's Institute's Quidditch superstar Victor Krum, followed by Beauxbatons' Academy exquisite Fleur Delacour and finally, Hogwarts' popular all-around golden boy Cedric Diggory. But then, inexplicably, the Goblet spits out one final name: Harry Potter. Suspecting that whoever entered Harry's name wants to put him in grave danger, Dumbledore asks Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody, the eccentric new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, to keep his magical eye trained on the teenage wizard. Events take an ominous turn when someone is murdered on Hogwarts grounds. As they edge closer to the Triwizard Cup, Harry soon finds himself hurtling toward an encounter with true evil.

The Butterfly Effect

Evan Treborn has lost track of time. From an early age, crucial moments of his life have disappeared into a black hole of forgetting, his boyhood marred by a series of terrifying events he can’t remember. What remains is the ghost of memory and the broken lives around him--the lives of his childhood friends, Kayleigh, Lenny and Tommy. Throughout his childhood, Evan was under the care of a psychologist who encouraged him to keep a journal, detailing the events of his day-to-day life. Now in college, Evan reads from one of his journals and finds himself thrust suddenly, inexplicably back in time. He comes to realize that the notebooks he keeps under his bed are a vehicle by which he can return to the past and reclaim his memories. But these recollections only leave Evan feeling responsible for the damaged lives of his friends, most crucially that of Kayleigh, his childhood sweetheart who he continued to love into adulthood.Determined to do something now that he was incapable of doing then, Evan purposely travels back in time, his present-day mind occupying his childhood body, in an attempt to re-write history and spare his friends and loved ones these traumatic experiences.

Normally I do not run right out to the movie theater when I hear about a movie. I can't even really think about a time when I saw a movie on opening weekend. At least, on purpose.
However, lately I have become aware of a few movies that sound intruiging to me.
So, I shall list them here linked to their official website, just in case you want to find out more info.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
This movie is not exactly a remake of the previous film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. From what I have heard, it more closely resembles the book. I love this story. Always have. It's so imaginative, and I wanted to be one of the children picked. Of course, that was before I understood that books were not exactly the "real world". Still, I am wondering if this movie will be wonderfully inventive in it's adaptation, or if it would be better left on the cutting room floor. It is directed by Tim Burton whom I don't particularly care for. Oh well, we shall wait and see. The movie comes out July 15th.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith
I have always enjoyed watching both of the main actors in this film. Angelina Jolie, and Brad Pitt. I am not swayed by the incessant rumors about their "relationship". I would not pay money out of curiousity. Ok. Not out of curiousity about their so called "love life". I am, however, curious about the movie. I saw interviews and a scene from the movie today. They were dancing and doing a very interesting frisk. It is about a "boring" married couple who find out that the other spouse is an infamous assassin. Hmm..
This movie comes out June 10th.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
I have heard the book of the same name by Ann Brashares is wonderful. I am behind in my reading however, and can not attest to this personally. It has two of my favorite young tv actresses; Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel. It is about four best girlfriends who hatch a plan to stay connected with one another as their lives start off in different directions: they pass around a pair of secondhand jeans that fits each of their bodies perfectly.
This movie came out June 1st.

Herbie: Fully Loaded
While I may not particularly care for Lindsay Lohans singing career (she does sing well people), I cannot argue the fact that she is a wonderful actress. She started when she was just a child. Her first role being the remake of The Parent Trap.
Maggie Peyton (Lohan), the new owner of Number 53 - the free-wheelin' Volkswagen bug with a mind of its own - puts the car through its paces on the road to becoming a NASCAR competitor. We all (should) know Herbie the "love bug". He has been in multiple movies.
This movie comes out June 22nd.

So, now, what movies are you looking forward to??
